Q. What Plugins have you developed and what do
they do?
A.
Phatlewt:
I maintain
Phatlewt. I didn’t
develop it, but I would like to think my additions have taken it a long
way.
Phatlewt is a third party
application that takes the .xml output from
Imp Inventory and formats
it into an easy to read html tradelist.
Here’s an example of
Phatlewt at work:

Q. What was/is the 1st
Plugin/3rd party Application
you programmed?
A.
I had a rudimentary program that
figured out the tapers (years ago when we learned spells that way), but
Phatlewt is the only application that was polished enough to release.
Q.
What inspired you to write it/them?
A.
I love to tinker with things. I really wanted some
features added to
Phatlewt
and the original author, Heart Failure, seemed to
have stopped updated it, so I figured out how
Phatlewt
worked and took over
Q.
What was the biggest obstacle you
had/have to overcome in writing your Plugins/3rd party Applications?
A.
I’m a medical student. I know very
little about programming, so I had to figure out the Perl language as
went. This was a huge challenge to say the least.
Q.
What is your favorite language to
program in?
A.
I’d have to say Perl because it’s the only one
that I know well. Though I’m trying to teach myself VB (something
practical!).
Q.
How long have you been programming in
general/with Decal Applications?
A.
I started tinkering
around with programming about 7 years ago. Over the past year, I have
tried to tinkering around with a decal program, but no success so far.
Q.
Have you felt the overall contribution
of the decal programming community has been positive on the game?
A.
Absolutely! AC is a wonderful game, but
it is full of mundane activities. The invention of the auto-buffer and
loot ID'er have removed much of this tedium and made the game a much more
enjoyable game. In my opinion, the programming (decal) community is
largely responsible for the continued success of the game. So, I’d like
to thank all the developers that have spent countless hours working for
the benefit of our community.
Q.
What Plugins/3rd party Application other
than your own, do you use?
A.
What Plugins/3rd party Application other than your own, do you use?
In the order they appear in my decal bar:
-
Bandit Sight/2:
A must have.
BTW check out my profile,
Hunters BS/2 Profile (shameless
plug).
-
Infinity:
Mainly as a buffer, HUD, and chat filterer.
-
Let There be Light:
Awesome in dungeons.
-
Deadeye Color System (DCS):
A recent addition, probably a keeper.
-
MeginJarder: A recent
addition. BW’s open database is great.
-
Imp Inventory:
The ultimate inventory program.
Q. What can we look forward to in upcoming versions of your
Plugins/3rd party Applications?
A.
Once
Imp Inventory
get a few updates <nudge Arkayas>, I would love to add new modifiers and
Deadeye's colors <poke
Arkayas>.
I have some scripts to help with doing the
Phatlewts
in batches, I have been lazy, but this is pretty
much ready to release.
Also on the back burner is completely rewriting the way it sorts items,
so that when
Turbine adds a new item
with a funky name I will not have to release a new version.
Q. Do you still play AC and if so what Server/s do you frequent?
A.
I play fairly activity on
FrostFell.
Look me up on Archmage Hunter or Deadra Hunter.
Q. What is your favorite Plugin/3rd party Application that you have
written?
A.
All these questions
about writing multiple applications make me feel lazy.
Well out of my one 3rd party applications I have written,
Phatlewt and it is my
favorite. |
